City of Columbus

The public-private partnerships have had a major impact on every facet of the region, from business to government, from recreation to art. A public-private partnership, the Columbus Challenge, raised more than $100 million to construct the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, renovate The Springer Opera House—the State Theatre of Georgia, expand the historic Liberty Theatre Cultural Center, and provide funding to seven other arts organizations.

In this pro-business Region, public private-partnerships have created many “firsts” for the state and the nation to meet the needs of business. The Intellectual Capital Partnership Program (ICAPP), the first in the nation, is a shining example of partnerships focusing on satisfying the needs of employers in the Columbus Region. This program joined forces with the University System of Georgia to create a cutting edge training program on the Columbus State University campus. ICAPP saved the company nearly $8,000 in training costs per employee hired.
